JEDI, DEI, DEIB, IDEA…there are a variety of acronyms referencing a field of work that encourages us to engage with a full range of identities and perspectives to build relationships based on equity and mutual respect.
I choose to use JEDI because I see justice as both the starting point in how I interact in the world and also the north star that gives direction to my work. Equity acknowledges that change is far more sustainable when systems and processes can shape the path toward creating a new norm. That path is paved through intentionally designing diversity and inclusion practices into our workplaces.
This is my namesake. I chose Emerge because I work from the perspective that, with sufficient catalysts and the right environment, the solutions we seek will emerge from within us, our teams, organisations and ecosystems.
My focus is relational. It is my way of thinking in systems as I navigate the social context of each organisation I work with. Throughout my work, my focus is on community and how we function with each other. Personal development and wellness is absolutely an important component of the work, but relational behaviours and social wellbeing is what I know best.
The learning experiences and strategy work I offer lean on our collective wisdom. I will draw from my toolkit the information and recommendations that are relevant to you but I also invite your input along the way. I believe we can evolve the current culture and process only when we enable diverse voices to contribute.
A regenerative approach is essential to driving lasting change that extends beyond a workshop or a course. It brings positive social value beyond a single project, team or organisation. I trust that with commitment and active engagement, this work becomes truly regenerative.
